Tottenham stars reportedly fear Toby Alderweireld will leave the club in the summer, amid speculation linking him with Manchester United and Chelsea.
Alderweireld is yet to agree to a new deal with Spurs. He was also left out of the squad for their Champions League match with Juventus last week.
A number of Premier League clubs – as well as the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona – have been linked with moves for the 28-year-old, who will be out of contract in June 2019.
“I am not going to speak about rumours. You know very well I never speak about rumour,” said Pochettino.
“There are many rumours about different players in the media and different rumours about myself too. You know I am not going to speak about rumours.”
Danny Murphy has urged Tottenham to tie the Belgium international down to a new contract. “Tottenham need to sort out his future as quickly as possible,” he told the Evening Standard.
“He is a top-drawer player and if Spurs need to relax their wage structure to hang on to him, then they should.
“If Alderweireld were to join a top European club or, worse, one of Spurs’ Premier League rivals, what sort of message would that send to Spurs’ main men?
“There are always players you like to have in your team, who give you a boost when they return from injury, especially centre-backs.”
