Southampton striker, Jay Rodriguez hasn’t played at all this season. He’s been sidelined with cruciate knee ligament damage since April, and still he is in the news.
Tottenham made an approach to sign the boy from Burnley in the summer but Southampton weren’t ready to sell at that point. Maybe they will be now. With the Saints having made a wonderful start to their Premier League campaign under Ronald Koeman, it looks like they may be willing to cash in on Rodriguez.
With Arsenal and Liverpool also interested, Spurs will need to make a sizeable bid in order to tempt the England international to White Hart Lane.
Rodriguez is planning a return to action in December, but will Southampton need him by then? Or will they be doing just fine without him in the higher reaches of the top English division.
There is already talk on the south coast as to where Rodriguez would ‘fit in’ to their high-flying side. Only time will tell, but the big boys will be watching carefully.
