Stan says sell Sterling

TalkSport pundit and former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has opened up his views on the Raheem Sterling contract saga.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers admitted in a recent press conference that the club had offered the striker an ‘incredible deal’.

The new terms are believed to have at least trebled Sterling’s current ÂŁ35,000-a-week contract. However, the Reds’ manager Rodgers is adamant the club wont be held to ransom by Sterling’s representatives.

The England international’s agent is holding out for a huge deal for his client, as there are rumours of interest from European giants Real Madrid.

BUT, Stan Collymore insists that no player is bigger than Liverpool Football Club and thinks Rodgers will sell their key player if it’s in the best interests of the team.

Talking live on Radio, Collymore said: “If he’s asking for ÂŁ130,000 or ÂŁ150,000 and wants to be the club’s top earner, do you know what I would do? I would honestly sell him, as good as he had been for Liverpool.”

In 2015, the 20-year old has scored three goals in eight appearances in all competitions.
