Stewart Robson believes Cesc Fabregas will not play in Chelsea’s biggest games next season.

Stewart Ian Robson is an English former football player and TV and radio football pundit. He played for Arsenal, West Ham United where he was their player of the season in 1988, and Coventry City.

Fabregas at first struggled to impress under Chelsea boss Antonio Conte last campaign, however,  the 29-year-old picked up form the second half of the campaign.

Fabregas still managed to net five goals and make 12 assists in his 13 starts and 16 substitute appearances in the 2016/17 Premier League season.

The former Arsenal captain proved valuable to Conte as the midfielder helped the west London side wrap up the title with two games to spare.

Fabregas appears to be set to remain at the west London club for another season given Nemanja Matic is being linked with a potential exit following the signing of Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Former Arsenal striker Robson made the bold claim that Fabregas will only be utilised in Chelsea’s crunch Premier League games next season when Conte needs to call on the playmaker’s experience.

“Fabregas can’t defend when he is in the side,” Robson told ESPN FC.

“He has people running off him despite him being very good with the ball.

“He won’t play in the big games [next season].”

Fabregas moved to Chelsea in a £27m deal from La Liga giants Barcelona in the 2014 summer transfer window.
