Sterling will begin talks for a new Reds’ contract within the coming fortnight – with a clause in his current deal stating that both parties must hold talks for a renewed contract once the teenager had made his 90th appearance for the club.

The 19 year-old’s appearance in Liverpool’s 2-1 weekend win over West Brom was his 87th and he set up Jordan Henderson who proved to score the winning goal.

Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre, however, is thought to have already approached the England youngster’s agent two weeks ago to begin negotiations for a new deal following the increased interest from foreign clubs.

Sterling has attracted many big clubs to his attention such as European Champions Real Madrid after enjoying a successful campaign with the Anfield side last season in which they narrowly missed out on the Premier League title.

However Liverpool boss Brenden Rodgers has confirmed that Sterling, who’s current deal expires in 2017, wants to stay at the club.
