Steven Gerrard heaped praise on Eden Hazard after his performance for Chelsea in their 2-1 Champions League win against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night.
The Belgian playmaker was back in the starting line-up and was in fine form for the west London squad in Spain.
Hazard has been gradually placed back into the first-team by Conte this season after having undergone ankle surgery at the start of the summer.
The playmaker is yet to start a game in the Premier League this campaign however, he looks to be back to form if his display against the Spanish side on Wednesday night is anything to go by.
Atletico took the lead in the first half when Antoine Griezmann converted his penalty after a needless foul by David Luiz in the box.
However, Hazard was involved in Alvaro Morata’s equaliser for Conte’s men as he provided the assist for the Spaniard’s header as the Blues drew level.
Substitute Michy Batshuayi then netted a dramatic late winner for Conte’s men in Spain.
And former Liverpool star Gerrard was very impressed by what he saw from Hazard against Atletico Madrid as Chelsea claimed a famous victory.
Speaking during BT Sport here is Steve Gerrard’s reaction to Eden Hazard’s performance v Atletico Madrid: “They were brilliant in the first half. These two were the catalysts – Alvaro Morata and Eden Hazard.
“Hazard is so direct. When he gets the ball at his feet and runs at you with that pace, he’s unstoppable.
“He was at the heart of everything that Chelsea did well.”
The dramatic finish gave the Blues two wins from two Champions League Group C games.
