Newcastle United set to pull the trigger on manager?
Steve McClaren expects to be sacked by Newcastle United within the next 24-hours, according to reports.
The Magpies are in the middle of a relegation battle, and following Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at home to AFC Bournemouth, they got dragged in even further after teams around them picked up points.
With Bournemouth winning at St James’ Park, and Swansea City also picking up three points, it leaves Newcastle 19th in the table, only above Aston Villa, who are deemed already relegated.
With just nine games left to go, it looks like the relegation battle will be between Newcastle, Sunderland and Norwich City, with two of those three going down along with Villa.
McClaren Faces Sack
However, McClaren might not be the man at the helm during the relegation scrap as reports are emerging regarding his future, and several are claiming he’s set to be sacked by the club.
McClaren only arrived at Newcastle in the summer after leaving Championship side Derby County, but his tenure could be coming to an end with fans calling for his dismissal during Saturday’s defeat.
Names being linked with the job are Nigel Pearson, David Moyes, Harry Redknapp and Brendan Rodgers, but as of yet, McClaren is still employed by Newcastle.
