Steven Defour claims he could take retirement at Burnley.

The midfielder has been a pivotal part of Sean Dyche’s plans and has been involved in the last four games following a long injury layoff. The 30 year old missed a large part of the season due to a calf injury but will be available for selection when Burnley host Newcastle United in the Premier League.

Defour featured in 24 matches in the top flight before getting injured in a 1-1 draw with Newcastle. The midfielder impressed the last term but injury halted his progress. The Belgian international seems to be pretty happy at the club and has intended to hang up his boots at Turf Moor.

“It is one of the possibilities.

“I am not taking anything for granted. I want to work every week and show what I am capable of and show that good level that I was on last year.

“I want to be at that level really soon and we will see what happens.

“I am not asking for anything, I am not shouting anything off the roof, I just want to play football at the moment.”
