French defensive midfielder Steven N’Zonzi had been linked to move to Arsenal since the last few days. The Sevilla player had been on the Gunners’ radar for quite some time and was expected to sign a deal with the club soon.

However, Nzonzi’s move takes a twist as West Ham and Everton are also in the fray to get the Frenchman’s signature. However, none of the two have tabled a bid for the midfielder yet.

N’Zonzi has played at the Premier League for Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City previously. He also had the opportunity to work with present Arsenal coach Unai Emery during his time at Sevilla. He is currently with the French national team at the ongoing World Cup in Russia. The 29-year old started and played the entirety of France’s group game against Denmark. He also made two substitute appearances against Peru and Uruguay, both of them coming late in the second half.

Emery has been pretty busy with Arsenal during the current transfer window, having already signed four players. So far, Arsenal have acquired the services of Estonian goalkeeper Karl Jakob Hein, Swiss captain Stephan Lichsteiner, German shot-stopper Bernd Leno and Greek defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
