Stoke City manager Mark Hughes is reportedly after Manchester City’s Swedish striker John Guidetti with a view to signing him.

The Swedish striker is still yet to make his mark on the City first team this season, and is still yet to make a start for City’s first team.

The highly rated Swedish youngster overcame a career thretening injury which saw him miss the whole of last season, haulting his development.

Pellegrini is hopeful that Guidetti can go out on loan in the near future to enhance his development, with Stoke closing in on a possible deal, to take him to the Britannia.

However, Stoke may face competition from the likes of West Ham and Aston Villa, who both have striker shortages.

The Swede enjoyed a superb spell at Feyenoord in the 2011/12 campaign, scoring an incredible 23 goals, in just 23 Duch League fixtures.

Clubs abroad have also expressed an interest in Guidetti, with Malaga linked.

His path to the first team is blocked by City’s wealth of front players.

Malaga’s sporting director Mario Husillos was in Manchester last week to speak with Pellegrini about 21-year-old Guidetti.

But it still appears Stoke are the front runners, and could tie up a deal in the next few days.
