The FA have charged Stoke City Manager Mark Hughes with misconduct following Saturdays game with Tottenham.

Hughes was sent to the stands during the first half of Stoke’s 4-0 defeat to Spurs at the Britania Stadium.

Hughes was dismissed for verbally abusing the fourth official in the 35th minute just prior to Spurs going in front.

Frustration for Hughes began after Marco Arnautovic was booked for simulation which left Hughes fuming. After a confrontation between Hughes and the fourth official, referee Anthony Taylor was called over and he then sent Hughes to the stands which was greeted by jeers from the crowd.

Hughes has until 6pm Friday 16th September to respond to the charge.

His side are bottom of the Premier League, after only managing one point from the opening four games of the season which came against newly promoted Middlesborough in a 1-1 draw on the opening day of the season.
