Everton not ready to sell Chelsea and Manchester United target

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has confirmed that they won’t be selling John Stones this summer.

The England international is wanted by both Chelsea and Manchester United, with The Blues already having two formal bids turned down in the past few weeks.

Their first offer was worth around ÂŁ20million, with their second being worth ÂŁ25m. However, both were rejected as The Toffees would want at least ÂŁ30m for the 21-year-old.

Since the second offer was rejected, Chelsea haven’t been back with a formal bid, and in a recent interview, Jose Mourinho admitted that there may not be a third bid as they don’t value Stones any higher than what they’ve offered.

Speaking about the centre-back, Martinez has confirmed that they have no intentions of selling the star, who is set to have a big season at Goodison Park.

Not for Sale

Martinez said: “Clearly he is a player that we admire, clearly that is going to be the same in other clubs.

“They are going to be admiring his ability and what he is as a footballer but he is an Everton player and as you can imagine he is a big part of what we are trying to achieve in the future.”

Everton have a past of keeping hold of stars from big clubs, with Leighton Baines, Seamus Coleman, Phil Jagielka and Ross Barkley all wanted by bigger clubs in the past.
