Its reported that Liverpool goal keeper Pepe Reina who had spent last season on loan at Napoli wants to go back this season to re-join old boss Rafa Benitez, It is thought Reina has a £4m release clause in his contract.
Last season Reina was knocked off his number 1 spot by Belgian Simon Mignolet, although the Reds boss has yet to decide who will be his number 1 this season that decision could now be made for him, with Reina reportedly telling friends that he wants to return to Napoli.
However it is reported that Napoli are not keen on making his switch permanent and would only opt for another loan move.
Reina who gave an interview after Spain’s disappointing World Cup campaign came to a close by saying “I don’t know about my future. I want to be calm about it and there are people who are working on that”
He went on to say “I have two years left on my Liverpool contract and the situation is the same as a month ago.And finished “I’ve not spoken to Rodgers and I don’t know what they think but I have a contract and in the end that is what counts. I have to join up with Liverpool and there’s nothing more I can do.”
