The 23-year-old midfielder Kevin Strootman had been linked with big clubs like Manchester United and Milan, before he signed on for the Italien capital club Roma. And now he says that Giallorossi was the only club who made an serious approach for the signature.
“Did Manchester United and AC Milan want me? Only Roma came forward seriously for me and I liked their project. Rudi Garcia called me and convinced me to make the move, and I’m happy to be here,” the midfielder told Gazzetta dello Sport, and said that he relly looking forward to play with the other new signings at the club.
“There are so many good players here, as well as the new ones like Maicon, (Mehdi) Benatia and Gervinho,” Strootman said, and added:
“I want to prove that I am worth all the money (£15.6m) that Roma spent on me, and then I want to win something.”
