Sturridge Believes for his Skipper

With nearly every club honour to his name other than the Premier League, and at the age of 33, Steven Gerrard could currently be working on his last opportunity to win the English title before his legendary career comes to an end. The Liverpool and England captain has dreamed of winning the league with his boyhood club.

LFC striker Daniel Sturridge believes that even without the missing Premier League title link, the legend status for his skipper is already intact. Sturridge’s goals this season have been a vital part of his sides sucess this season along with fellow striker Luis Suarez, and coming into the final six games the forward is determined to keep the winning streak running to ensure his captain finally gets his hands on the trophy.

When talking about his captain, he said “If we win it, Stevie really deserves it, and he should win the Premier League because of everything he has done for this club. Every player in this team will do their best to help him achieve that goal. He’s been so loyal to Liverpool – he has been world class and still is.”

The striker described his captain as a leader, and not just a Liverpool legend, but an England legend. He also says that his captain will go down in history as one of the best midfielders in world football for his heroics in games such as Istanbul and the FA Cup final of 2006 in Cardiff.

Sturridge continued, “He lives and dies for this club, he’s been here his whole career and it’s a great pleasure to play with him. Stevie is the perfect example for every young player around the country – a real example for every player.”

With Liverpool climbing back to the top of the Premier League after the 4-0 demolition of Tottenham at Anfield last Sunday, the striker feels that the results against the London club this season as well as many other clubs are the motivation that the club needs to make them believe that they can come out on top of the Premier League.

He went on to say, “The important thing is just to keep working hard and if we do that, I am sure we will continue to get the results. There are still six games to go, every one of them huge, so we won’t get too excited just yet. We need to keep getting the job done, because from now it is all about results.”

With a tough run in for the Merseyside side, including games against Man City and Chelsea at Anfield, many dreaming red fans believe that this is finally their chance and that it is in their own hands. But onwards and upwards for Brendan Rodgers men is the way many people see this side going. And with the backing of an army of fans as the manager described, the side know that they Will Never Walk Alone.
