Stuttgart have insisted that they will only sell their highly rated centre back, Antonio Rudiger, if there is sufficient interest from a big club.

Rudiger is considered to be one of Europe’s hottest young talents, and many have tipped the 21 year old to go on to greater and better things, beyond the confines of the Mercedes-Benz Arena. With Manchester United needing reinforcements at the back, it is rumoured that the Red Devils are following the progress of the German international, along with Premier League compatriots, Chelsea.

However, VfB manager Armin Veh has dealt a blow to any other clubs who thought they might nip in front of the domestic giants in the race to sign the centre half, by stating they will only sell to a big club.

Veh said: “Antonio is under contract until June 2017 with our club. The thing is, how much longer can we keep hold of such a player?

“He is willing to learn, has power and self-confidence and the willpower he needs to succeed.

“I understand that big clubs are chasing him. But a move will only be considered for Antonio if he joins a really big outfit. Otherwise, it would be better for him to stay at our club.”

Only time will tell where the German finds his future, with it seemingly in his own hands right now.
