SUNDERLAND VS LIVERPOOL REACTION

Liverpool left the Stadium of Light with all three points this evening after goals from Daniel Sturridge and a brace from Luis Suarez.

After the game, the players and managers faced the media. Here is the best of the reaction.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge on his goal:

“It was a great ball in from Stevie (Gerrard). I’ve tried to head it, but my heading’s obviously not good enough and it’s gone in off my arm. But I wouldn’t do that on purpose, these things happen.”

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers on Luis Suarez:

“He’s getting the reward for his hard work in the period he was off. He and Daniel Sturridge are a great partnership, they complement each other. We’ve changed our system a bit to a 3-4-1-2 and it’s working well.”

“It was always going to be physical and demanding today. The work we put in was exceptional and I thought we were very dangerous on the counter-attack. But there are many more improvements to come.”

“Daniel Sturridge was maybe a bit fortunate with his goal, I think he needs to work on his heading.”

Sunderland caretaker manager Kevin Ball:

“We are disappointed with the result, but in the second half it was a fantastic reaction to going 2-0 down. I didn’t think 3-1 was a fair reflection of the game. If you look at today as a whole, I think we put in a good performance.”

“I’ll go and speak to the board and whatever they choose to do, so be it. We’ll see.”
