Olsen to leave Italy after a short stint in Rome.

Montpellier and Roma have agreed a €1.2 million loan deal for Swedish goalkeeper Robin Olsen.

He will replace the 28-year-old Benjamin Lecomte, who left to join French powerhouse Monaco. Montpellier also have the option to buy the Swedish goalkeeper in June 2020 for €7 million if he delivers.

There are still some details to be worked out between Olsen’s agent Hasan Cetinkaya and the French side, though, but the operation is set to be completely finalized very soon, according to Sky Sport Italia. The Roman club will reportedly make a concession by paying a portion of the €2 million salary of the Swedish player who no longer fits into the plans of the club.

With Olsen leaving, Roma sporting director Gianluca Petrachi seems to have set his mind on getting rid of some of former director Monchi’s biggest flops.

Last summer, Olsen helped Sweden reach their first World Cup quarterfinal since the 1994 World Cup and gained international interest from some of Europe’s top clubs. In June 2018, Roma brought Olsen from Copenhagen on five-year contract for reported fee of around €12 million, in hope to fill in the blank that Alisson Becker left when joining Liverpool.

The 29-year-old Swede managed just 35 competitive appearances for the Giallorossi in his short stay with only seven clean sheets.
