The loan deal that sent 18-year-old striker Jonah Kusi-Asare from FC Bayern Munchen to Fulham FC last summer may be terminated as early as January, according to recent reports from Bavarian football works.

Jonah Kusi-Asare Could Head Back to Munich This Winter

Bayern had extended Kusi-Asare’s contract before agreeing to the loan, hoping the young Swede would get valuable experience at Premier League level.

The Sweden Under-21 international, a former star with youth clubs including AIK Fotboll — had made a handful of senior appearances for Bayern before the move.

Fulham manager Marco Silva has repeatedly stressed that Kusi-Asare “is not at a stage” ready to perform at the rigours of the Premier League.

Indeed, by the end of November the youngster had logged only a single minute in the league.

That lack of playing time despite injuries and absence among other forwards has raised serious doubts over the wisdom of keeping the loan alive.

Fulham reportedly may attempt to sign another striker in January, which could pave the way for an early end to Kusi-Asare’s loan.

Back in Munich, Bayern are unlikely to simply abandon the tall, technically gifted forward.

With his contract still valid through 2027 and a buy-back clause reportedly included in the original deal, the club retains options: a return to Bayern’s own youth or senior setup, or possibly a different loan to a lower-pressure environment better suited to his development.

At this stage, the loan to Fulham appears increasingly shaky. The next two months and Fulham’s January transfer plans may well decide whether Kusi-Asare gets a second chance in England or heads back to Germany in search of the right platform to fulfill his obvious potential.
