The keeper is keen to stay in Serie A

Wojciech Szczesny reportedly wants to stay at Roma on a permanent basis.

The goalkeeper is currently on loan at the Italian club from Arsenal, where he has been pushed out of the starting eleven. He appears to be enjoying his time at the club and reports are suggesting he wants to make the move to Serie A a permanent one.

Roma hoping to sign him up permanently

Roma are believed to be keen to do business and with the 25-year old also willing to stay at the club, all that needs to be agreed is a deal.

The keeper sparked speculation that he would be staying in Italy by saying: “My future will be decided after the European Championship. I love Arsenal, but I’m happy at Roma.

“I know that Roma want me, but I don’t see why Arsenal would not want me also. [Roma coach Rudi] Garcia believes in me and so too do my teammates and the fans. Coming to Rome was the best choice. It’s best being a protagonist for the runners-up in Italy than sitting on the bench in England.

“Even [Arsene] Wenger thought it was the best thing for me.”

It looks like Szczesny doesn’t want to sit on the sidelines at Arsenal and it means a deal may have to be done to let him leave the Gunners permanently in the summer.
