Barca’s second-choice goalkeeper attracting Reds interest

Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen is subject of a £10.8 million bid from Liverpool, despite Simon Mignolet’s contract extension.

There has been much speculation about the Reds’ goalkeeper situation at Anfield, with Mignolet having put in some questionable performances for the club this season.

However, the Belgium international signed a new five-year deal on Monday meaning that speculation over potential goalkeeper replacements were seemingly halted.

But reports suggest the club have put in a bid for the Barcelona goalkeeper who has made just 12 appearances for the club this season,  behind first choice Claudio Bravo.

ter Stegen unsettled

The German is understood be unsettled in Spain and Klopp said of the speculation linking Liverpool with the 23-year-old: “No. They’re good goalkeepers, but no.”

Manchester United are also said to be after the goalkeeper, who Barca have slapped a £23 million price tag on, and ter Stegen could be prepared to move away from the Camp Nou if the current situation does not change.

Don Balon claim Klopp insisted that Liverpool signed the German goalkeeper. But, it’s not understood whether he would be selected ahead of Mignolet, who has so recently signed new terms at Anfield.
