John Terry is ‘gutted’ Jose Mourinho got the sack from Chelsea and has suggested that some team-mates are accountable.

The Portuguese got the axe last week after a torrid four months that see’s the Champions languishing down in 16th place in the Premier League.

And Terry, a firm ally of Mourinho, has strongly hinted that some of his team-mates should take a long look at themselves.

The former England captain indicated that some of them were lucky to still be at the club.

Terry said:

“If it was the case where you could get rid of a lot of players I’m sure clubs would do that, but unfortunately it does fall on the manager’s head, there’s nothing we can do about that.

“Obviously we are gutted the manager has gone, we as players feel responsible for that.

“We are not hiding away from that fact.

“We spoke on Friday about all of us sticking together — not just today or tomorrow but over the next five or six months — and getting ourselves back up the table.

“The fans showed the loyalty they have for Jose Mourinho. The memories he has brought to this club, the fans will never forget that.”There is obviously disappointment from a lot of them and rightly so because of what he has achieved at the club.

“It was going to be tough for us, individually and collectively, but I think we put in a very good performance. I’ve been here before and seen it before.

“You have to move on. A game came two days after the manager had gone so there’s no point in us sulking.”
