The FA has started an investigation in Tottenham Hotspur Ladies ace Renee Hector abuse case.

The Spurs player has said that she has been racially abused during their match against Sheffield Wednesday.

The FA has opened an investigation to find out the alleged racial abuse that Tottenham Ladies player Renee Hector had to face from an opposition player of Sheffield United. The player has said that she had heard monkey noises from an unnamed Sheffield United player during Tottenham’s match in the FA Women’s Championship during the weekend.

A FA spokesperson posted on his Twitter account about the incident and the consequent investigation. The statement read, “The FA can confirm that we are aware of an allegation of discriminatory abuse during The FA Women’s Championship match between Sheffield United Women and Tottenham Hotspur Ladies on Sunday 6 January. We take all allegations of discrimination very seriously and will be making enquiries into the matter.”

Hector herself posted regarding the matter on Twitter from her official account. It read, “Such a shame that racism seems to be rising up again in football – I received some monkey noises (on Sunday) from an opposition player. The only reaction was to let the football do the talking and that we did great start to the year!”

Tottenham have said that they have officially reported the incident to the FA while United have also confirmed that they have started their own investigation in this regard.
