Arsenal and England winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain strongly believes Arsenal can finish 1st in the League this season.
In an interview Alex said that there is strong belief within the Arsenal squad that they can be serious title challengers, the recent signing of Mesut Ozil has probably gave a big boost of belief and morale to the squad.
The last time Arsenal won a major trophy was in 2005, beating Manchester United in the FA Cup penalty shoot-out. The move from Highbury to the Emirates landed Arsenal with a beautiful stadium but over 600million pound debt. Arsenal have recently paid off all debts with huge sponsorship deals and still gaining Champions League places and now fans and the club are hoping to start contending for major trophies once again.
Chamberlain told the telegraph, ”We’ve been contenders ever since I came to Arsenal. Or at least that’s the feeling in thw squad. We really think we can take the title (this year).
”Obviously it hasn’t happened in recent seasons. Bit in the form we showed at the end of last season, and – when I was watching from the sidelines – in the spirit we’ve shown at the start of this, in the derby, everyone was fighting for each other.”
He went on to say, ”That team spirit, you can’t buy it. That, along with our manager and the signings, I’m full of optimism that this season can be a good one.”
”We think we can win the title. Just like we believe we can win every competition we’re in, If you don’t believe that, then you don’t deserve to be at Arsenal.”
