Sky Sports pundit says Gunners need a new spine
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has taken a massive swipe at his former-club by saying they need a whole new spine if they want to win the Premier League.
The ex-striker was speaking on Sky Sports during the Super Sunday showdown between Arsenal and Chelsea, and after the game, Henry revealed what exactly is wrong with his former club.
Spine Needed
Despite praising Olivier Giroud in recent weeks for his scoring record, Henry launched an attack on the Frenchman saying he isn’t good enough to win the title for Arsenal.
Henry then criticised Mesut Ozil for his big-match performances and then insisted that the club are still four players away from competing for titles.
The Frenchman said: ‘They need that spine.
‘They need a goalkeeper, they still need a centre-back, they still need a holding midfielder and, I’m afraid, they need a top, top quality striker to win this league again.
‘You had the best example with Chelsea. They were struggling last season to win the league. They went on to buy Courtois, Matic, Cesc (Fabregas) and Costa.’
Ozil Criticised
When asked about the club’s record signing, Henry added: ‘Against a top-four team, that was his eighth (on Sunday)– zero goals and two assists.
‘That is not enough. Overall, since he has been at Arsenal, he has 14 assists.
‘You look at Cesc Fabregas, he has 16 assists in one season.
‘Players at one point need to perform.’
It will be interesting to see how Arsenal fans react to these comments made by undoubtedly one of the club’s biggest legends.
