Thomas Tuchel is now the manager of England, and Jurgen Klopp has already expressed his appreciation for the man. Though he was tipped to succeed Gareth Southgate, Klopp declined the opportunity to assume the position. Rather, the FA made a move to sign Tuchel, reaching an 18-month agreement with the German.

With the Three Lions being one of the favourites to win the tournament, it will get him through to the 2026 World Cup. Mainz, Borussia Dortmund, PSG, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich were all under Tuchel’s leadership earlier. Not only did he win the DFB-Pokal with Dortmund, but he also succeeded Klopp as manager of Mainz. Also, while Tuchel was at Chelsea and Klopp was the manager of Liverpool, the two faced each other.

Thomas Tuchel set to be named England manager

According to sources who spoke with ESPN, Thomas Tuchel will take over as the next men’s head coach of England after negotiations with the Football Association quickened in the last 48 hours. At the FA’s news conference on Wednesday at Wembley, Tuchel’s appointment as Gareth Southgate’s replacement is expected to be announced.

In January, Tuchel was asked if he felt more valued in England than in his own country of Germany during an exclusive interview with ESPN. “Yes,” he answered. “I feel that we are very critical with each other in Germany, especially with players or coaches, and not only with me.” Very straightforward question: Yes, I felt more appreciated in England.” Tuchel will lead England as its third manager who was not born in the country and as its first German manager.
