It’s worth a staggering £233million however
Real Madrid star Toni Kroos has a release clause in his contract – but it’s £233million.
The German international has been heavily linked with a move away from the Bernabeu in recent months, with both Chelsea and Manchester United interested in signing him.
However, no formal offers were made and the midfielder stayed put in Spain.
The 26-year-old has been with Madrid since 2014 and has already made 81 appearances for the Spanish giants, but his future is still believed to be uncertain, especially with the interest being shown from the Premier League.
Release Clause
Despite Madrid keen to keep hold of Kroos for the foreseeable future, they did agree to inserting a release clause in his contract, however, it’s worth a staggering £233m.
If Chelsea and United desperately wanted to land the midfielder, they could trigger that release clause, but in doing so, it would mean they nearly triple the current transfer record which stands at £85m.
