Toni Kroos thinks Leroy Sane must work on his body language

Germany midfielder Toni Kroos feels that Leroy Sane is a quality player but he must improve his body language. Sane was brilliant last season, scoring 14 goals and providing 19 assists across all competitions. However, he did not find a place in Germany’s World Cup squad.  The winger is a part of Germany’s squad for their matches against France and Peru.

Kroos said, “Sometimes you have the feeling with Leroy’s body language that it is all the same, whether we win or lose. He has to improve his body language. He’s a player who has everything you need to be a world-class player but sometimes you have to tell him he has to perform better. What is crystal clear is his quality, his pace, his left foot. He was fantastic for City last year but Pep has the same problem at the moment – he’s trying to get the best out of him.

If he performs, he’s a real weapon. He has the quality, especially for us, but maybe the head coach looked at his performances for the national team and wasn’t happy.”

This season, Leroy Sane hasn’t started a single match for City and wasn’t even in the squad against Newcastle. Kroos’ comments also hint that Joachim Low didn’t choose Sane for the World Cup because of his national team record. In 12 matches for Germany, Sane is  yet to score and has only provided an assist.

Germany begin their UEFA Nations League campaign today against World champions France at Munich. Die Mannschaft will hope to put their World Cup campaign behind and have a strong start to the Nations League.
