Manchester United target Toni Kroos has been warned not to ‘overplay his hand’ when it comes to contract negotiations with Bayern Munich. Honourary Bayern president Franz Beckenbauer has stressed that the club will not be held to ransom by the midfielder.

Kroos current deal at the club expires next summer and Man United boss David Moyes has already checked out the German star during Bayern’s 2-0 win over Arsenal last week. His contract dispute may open the door for United to make a bid this summer and Beckenbauer has furthered the rumours by claiming that no player is ‘indispensable’

“You have to make a decision as a club when someone’s demands are going through the roof,” said Beckenbauer “There is not a single player worth changing your wage structure for. If the player does want to stay at Bayern, I can only advise him not to overplay his hand.”

Bayern’s sporting director Matthias Sammer says that Kroos will not be going anywhere. Sammer said:

“Toni has a contract until 2015 and he will not be going anywhere before then. We are determined to make sure he will stay at Bayern beyond the expiry date of his current deal.”
