Arsenal legend TWICE snubbed Red Devils

Former-Arsenal defender Tony Adams has revealed he rejected a move to fierce-rivals Manchester United on two separate occasions.

Adams is labelled as ‘Mr Arsenal‘ after his successful career at Highbury with the North London club, but things could have been different had he agreed to join the Red Devils.

The ex-captain of the club was wanted by Sir Alex Ferguson before Arsene Wenger took over as manager, but Adams remained loyal to the club and snubbed United‘s advances twice.

Adams went on to spend an incredible 22-years with the Gunners, making 669 appearances, and he’s now revealed the interest from United shown prior to the Wenger era.

Adams Reveals Chances

‘Alex Ferguson wanted to sign me twice, just before Arsene Wenger came to the club,’ said Adams.

‘I was ready for a change and he was onto me every day.

‘The chairman at the time, Peter Hill-Wood, convinced me that there was a good man on the way and that we were going to be ambitious financially.

‘I found my salary tripled, which was amazing. Arsene came and the rest is history.’
