Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand was handed an eight-month ban and a £50,000 fine by the Football Association (FA), after he missed a drugs test. He claimed he was ‘shopping’ at the time but the FA didn’t buy it and decided to ban him anyway earning him the second spot on the longest player bans in English football list.
