1) Massimo Taibi
No questions asked, the worst keeper to ever have been in professional football has to be Massimo Taibi. Sir Alex Ferguson signed the ‘highly-rated’ goalkeeper for more than £9m and the Scot was a keen admirer of the Italian. Taibi put in a man of the match performance on his debut against Liverpool but from then on it went downhill for him.
Taibi played against Chelsea and conceded five goals in the game at Stamford Bridge. His career at Manchester United was over when they played Southampton at Old Trafford. Matt Le Tissier had the ball in the middle of the park and he took a shot from around 30 yards out which then pea-rolled along the turf towards the goal and then disaster struck…
Taibi went to pick the ball up on his knees and it went straight through his hands and trickled into the back of the next. Taibi never played for Manchester United again.
Taibi is the worst of the worst goalkeepers ever.
