It was the second biggest transfer fee splashed out on deadline day, but it’s a cracking signing for Southampton, and it’s number one on our list.
Having failed to land Toby Alderweireld on a permanent deal from his original loan, the Saints were left without a quality centre back to partner captain Jose Fonte.
But they have certainly got that now with van Dijk joining their ranks, who has been linked with Arsenal in the past.
Van Dijk is a former teammate of Victor Wanyama at Celtic, and with the Kenyan having not moved to Tottenham today, Ronald Koeman will hope he can be get back into the fold with van Dijk also now in the squad.
The player shouldn’t have any problems in adapting to the Premier League, so Southampton will be feeling very happy tonight, especially having kept hold of Wanyama and prized asset Sadio Mane.
