3. Xabi Alonso (Liverpool vs Newcastle United, 2006)
Xabi Alonso is possibly the only ever player to score twice from his own half in the same year. The Spaniard found the net in an FA Cup tie against Luton in January 2006 with his weaker left foot from the centre circle. And he scored an even better goal here against Newcastle later in the year. This stunning lob had goalkeeper Steve Harper backpedaling so much that he lost his footing and could only watch as Alonso’s effort sailed over him and into the back of the net.
