According to recent reports, Tottenham have agreed on a deal with Real Betis for thr signature of Argentinian midfielder Giovani Lo Celso. The Lillywhites are ready to splash out ÂŁ52m with ÂŁ8m in add-ons for the 23-year-old.

Lo Celso had an impressive season with Real Betis, scoring 9 goals and registering 5 assists in 42 appearances for the club. Real Betis exercised a ÂŁ22m fee to make his loan deal from Paris Saint Germain permanent.

Mauricio Pochettino has identified Lo Celso as the man to replace Christian Eriksen at the club. The Danish playmaker is in the final year of his contract and has expressed his desire to seek new pastures this summer.

Lo Celso’s new contract with Real Betis contains a €100m release clause, with Paris Saint Germain entitled to 20% of any fee above €25m. If he moves to London, the Argentinian will earn €4m per season and put pen to paper on a five-year contract.

Tottenham have already completed the acquisition of Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon for a reported €62m with €10m in bonuses. The club also sent a two-man delegate to Lisbon last week to thrash out a deal for Sporting playmaker Bruno Fernandes.

Having lost to Inter Milan on penalties in the International Champions Cup, Mauricio Pochettino’s men are looking to kickstart their Premier League campaign by welcoming Aston Villa at home.
