Toby Alderweireld is reportedly joining Tottenham after a ÂŁ11.5million fee was agreed

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has been in talks with Atletico Madrid chiefs all weekend, according to the Daily Mail.

Levy is keen to land the Belgium international and has been in talks with Atletico chief executive Miguel Angel Gil in Madrid over the weekend, according to reports.

The final terms are still to be sorted out but Alderweireld could move to the White Hart Lane club in the next few days.

Southampton, where the 26-year-old spent last season on loan, did have a ÂŁ6.8million option to buy Alderweireld but Atletico paid ÂŁ1.5million to buy out the clause.

Koeman want to keep Alderweireld

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman was impressed with Alderweireld’s performances last season and has admitted he would like to keep hold of the Belgium international.

“The player would like to stay and we would like to keep him. I have a great hope that he will stay with Southampton” said Koeman.

Koeman is waiting to see how much money he will have to spend after Morgan Schneiderlin is reportedly on the verge of completing a ÂŁ25million move to Manchester United.

Schneiderlin to United

Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal confirmed his interest in the Saints midfielder after the Red Devils reportedly tabled a bid of around ÂŁ20million.

United are understood to have held initial talks two weeks ago regarding Schneiderlin and would like to conclude a deal before their pre-season tour later this month.

However, the St Mary’s club are reluctant to sell the France international and would only be prepared to accept offers of around £25million or above.
