Officials at White Hart Lane want Argentine to pen new deal

Tottenham Hotspur have begun negotiations with Mauricio Pochettino regarding a new long-term contract, according to reports.

The Argentinian has had a massive impact on the club since arriving two years ago, and with just nine games left, he’s put them in a great position to win their first ever Premier League title.

Despite two slip-ups in London derbies over the past few days, losing to West Ham United and then drawing to 10-man Arsenal, Spurs are still in with a shot of winning the title, sitting second and just five points off Leicester City.

Pochettino has worked wonders on the pitch at Tottenham, but he’s also worked wonders off it as well, selling the deadwood and bringing in young and hungry footballers.

Given his impressive work over the past two years, officials at the club want to reward him with a new deal, but it could also be a way of fending off potential suitors.

According to reports, both Chelsea and Real Madrid are interested in luring Pochettino to Stamford Bridge and the Bernabeu respectively.

New Contract

However, Spurs officials are ready to offer him a new deal to fend off unwanted interest, despite the Argentine still having three-and-a-half years left on his current deal.

Pochettino is in no rush to sign the new deal, according to reports, as he solely wants to focus on the football side of things before worrying about his future.

The club expect it to be resolved over the pre-season.
