Former-Tottenham Hotspur boss, Harry Redknapp, has revealed he had deals agreed to sign both Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois before they joined Chelsea.

The ex-Spurs manager was giving an interview on TalkSPORT, and he admitted that he had two deals lined up for the Belgium stars, but failed to get either of them over the line, allowing their London rivals to swoop in.

Chelsea secured Hazard from Lille in a deal worth ÂŁ32million back in 2012, and they also secured Courtois before sending him out on loan to Atletico Madrid for three seasons.

However, all could have been different for both players if Redknapp and Spurs managed to get the deals over the line.

“I was with Hazard in Paris, four hours I spent with him. He wanted to come to Tottenham, but the deal dragged on and didn’t happen,” Redknapp said on talkSPORT Drivetime.

“The goalkeeper, Courtois, we had him for next to nothing when he was 17 and that was another deal that dragged on forever and we didn’t get it over the line. He should have been at Tottenham.

“If we had of bought one or two players in at that time that we could have got, I felt we would have had a team capable of winning the league.”
