Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor may be a happy man come February if he is still at White Hart Lane, as he will pocket £1.4million from the club.

When the Togo international signed for Spurs from Manchester City for an original fee of £5million, they agreed to add £1.4million onto that over a period of time and with that just a couple of months away, the payment will affect both clubs.

The North-London based club have until the end of January to pay Manchester City the £1.4m, which will go straight from their account into Adebayor’s personal account due to the deal they made after the forward took a pay-cut in order to leave the Etihad Stadium.

The 29-year-old has been wanted by several clubs over the past two seasons, but he has been keen on staying in England and fighting for his place, despite being third in the pecking order behind Roberto Soldado and Jermain Defoe.
