Chelsea left in pole position to land West Brom striker

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly gone cold on signing West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino, leaving London rivals Chelsea in pole position to land him this window.

Spurs tried to lure the England star away from The Hawthorns during the summer transfer window, but they saw five formal offers all turned down by WBA after they refused to lower their asking price.

Berahino vented his frustrations at being stuck with West Brom, which has lead to him being dropped by Tony Pulis and mainly used as an impact substitution.

Due to the lack of starts, it’s believed the striker still wants out of the club, but with Spurs refusing to meet their asking-price, the 22-year-old could once again become stuck with the Baggies.

Chelsea New Favourites

However, according to reports, Chelsea could possibly swoop in for the youngster this month with Guus Hiddink desperate to add a striker to the ranks.

The Blues currently have Diego Costa, Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao with options up front, but with Remy wanting out and Falcao injured, a new striker in on the agenda for the champions.

If Chelsea do want to land Berahino, they will have to fork out ÂŁ23million for him.
