According to reports from the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Ajax midielder Donny van de Beek. Van de Beek has been an integral player for Ajax since joining the club from Jong Ajax in 2015. The 22-year old has made 134  appearances for the club, scoring 30 goals and providing 21 assists.

This season, van de Beek has been crucial to Ajax’s remarkable run of form in the Eredivisie and in the Champions League. The midfielder has scored 16 goals and has provided 11 assists in 53 appearances across all competitions.

Van de Beek has scored three goals in the Champions League this season and two of them have come in away games. He scored the winner in the second quarter-final leg against Juventus and also the winner in the first semi-final leg against Spurs.

Spurs believe that van de Beek is an ideal replacement for Chrstian Eriksen who could leave the club this summer. Eriksen’s current deal with Spurs expires next summer and he is yet to sign a new contract.

Tottenham however, aren’t the only club interested in signing the young Dutchman as Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are also keeping close tabs on him.

Provided Eriksen does leave the club, Donny van de Beek will be an ideal replacement for him and given Spurs’ history in signing players from Ajax, they have a strong chance of signing van de Beek.
