Spurs could make move for Liverpool flop

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert.

The England international joined The Reds last summer after agreeing to leave Southampton in a deal worth ÂŁ4million, but after most time spent on the sidelines, Lambert is already keen on leaving Anfield.

Lambert Struggles

Lambert was behind the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Mario Balotelli last season, and finds himself further down the pecking order after the arrivals of Danny Ings and Christian Benteke.

The 33-year-old had been linked with West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City, but according to reports today, Spurs could be interested in signing the veteran.

Tottenham’s Striking Options

Mauricio Pochettino is desperate to offload Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado, which would leave the club with just Harry Kane as a striking option.

Adebayor is closing in on a season-long loan move to Aston Villa, whilst Soldado could be set for a La Liga return.

Pochettino worked with Lambert at St Marys Stadium and is keen on a reunion at White Hart Lane as he aims to add depth up front to help Kane.

After starting just 12 games for his boyhood club last season, Lambert is ready to make the hard decision and leave Merseyside as Brendan Rodgers looks to offload some players after signing seven already this summer.
