Tottenham Hotspur are set to be without Eric Dier till the New Year due to appendix surgery.

The official club statement read, “Eric Dier has undergone surgery to remove his appendix. The England international midfielder was diagnosed with appendicitis after contacting our medical staff due to acute abdominal pain.”

“He received immediate treatment to assess and then remove the appendix. He will now undergo a period of recovery before commencing rehabilitation and it is expected he will return to training with the squad in January.”

Dier did not feature in Spurs 1-0 win over Burnley last night but has made 17 appearances this season. The defensive midfielder even has 2 Premier League goals to his name this term.

Tottenham are in the third spot of the English top-flight after making no additions in the summer transfer market.

18-year-old Oliver Skipp took Dier’s spot in the match against the Clarets and impressed his manager.

Mauricio Pochettino might have to rely on Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko in major fixtures until the return of Eric Dier. Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama are still recovering from their respective ankle and knee injuries.

The North London outfit might also be looking into the January window to make additions even though the possibility of signings seem bleak due to their expenses over stadium renovations.
