Spurs set to double striker’s current wage
Tottenham Hotspur are ready to offer star-striker Harry Kane a new deal in order to fend off interest from Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea.
The England international has developed into one of the best strikers in the league following his superb breakthrough season last year, netting over 30 goals in all competitions.
Despite a slow start this time around, Kane has quickly re-found his scoring boots and is back in form for the Lilywhites.
However, after refinding his form, the striker has been a target of reported interest from United and Chelsea, with the former keen on signing him over the summer.
Louis van Gaal‘s side was linked with a £50million move for the striker before the season began, but they couldn’t agree to a deal with Spurs, leaving Kane at White Hart Lane.
Since then Chelsea have entered the race due to their goal struggles this season, and it’s believed they are ready to lodge a formal bid in the New Year.
New Contract to be Offered
Reacting to the news of reported interest, officials at Tottenham are now ready to offer Kane a new deal and will also double his current wages.
The 22-year-old signed a long-term deal back in February, but only on a £35k-a-week deal. Officials at the club now think he’s worth double that and are prepared to offer him nearer £70k-a-week.
Mauricio Pochettino has already confirmed that the club have no plans on selling Kane, and if these reports are to be believed, it looks like a new deal will be agreed to soon.
