Not only have Manchester City lost ground in the title race, but have now been dealt with a blow to their star Midfielder Yaya Toure through injury.
Yaya hobbled off early in the second half apparently after Toure had tried to respond by scoring a goal for City after they went 1-0 down to Liverpool. Manuel Pellegrini has admitted that he may lose the ivorian for the rest of the season, which could be a huge dent in Manchester City’s title hopes. Toure currently stands as City’s top scorer with 18 goals this season in the Premier League.
During the interview after the match, Pellegrini said: “It’s difficult for Yaya to be in the next game. We will see tomorrow, I don’t know how serious he is injured. “I think it will be difficult for him to finish playing this season.
However, Pellegrini insists that even with Toure being set to miss the rest of the season, City still have a chance to clinch the title that they desperately were hoping for at the start of the year. He added: “We will continue fighting, nothing is finished today.
