The AS Roma defender is attracting Premier League interest

AS Roma defender Kosta Manolas has denied he is aware of interest from Manchester United, with Chelsea and Arsenal also interested in the 24-year-old.

Reports have said that United met with Manolas’ agent over the weekend to discuss a move to Old Trafford, but the former Olympiacos man is neither or concerned about Louis Van Gaal’s interest.

“Manchester United? I know nothing, my agent tells me nothing.” said Manolas.

“I have to be focused on Roma, I still have three years on my contract. After the end of the season we will look at things together with Roma.”

Manolas to replace Terry?

Newly appointed Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is keen to bring Manolas with him from Italy to Stamford Bridge this summer, as a replacement for John Terry.

And Conte, like Arsenal, believes the Greece international is worth £30 million, with the United, Chelsea and Arsenal set to battle it out for the defender this summer.

It is understood Van Gaal’s side had hoped to capture the signing for £24 million, but with the Gunners and Chelsea willing to pay more, they may be forced to up their bids, in order to avoid losing Manolas to their arrivals.

Van Gaal has been forced to use Holland international Daley Blind in defence, rather than in midfield, after acquiring a number of injuries throughout the season and is keen to bolster his centre-back options.

But Arsene Wenger is hoping to steal Greek from United and Chelsea, after missing out on signing the Roma defender back in 2014.

Manolas joined Roma in 2014 for £14 million, and has made 60 league appearances for the Giallorossi to date.
