Reds to offer right-back Camp Nou escape route

Liverpool have approached Barcelona with the hope of securing the services of right-back Aleix Vidal.

The Reds are prepared to offer the 26-year-old an escape route from the Catalan giants, after making just 14 appearances for the club this season.

Jurgen Klopp is prepared to bring the Spaniard to Anfield, with the player demanding more first-team football. However, the move would come as surprise, considering Nathaniel Clyne has performed admirably for the club in that position this season.

It would leave the German boss a dilemma when it comes to selection, but would help strengthen that part of the pitch and provide the England right-back with some quality competition.

However, it remains to be seen how that would work out with Liverpool not competing in Europe next season – meaning few matches for Clyne and Vidal to share the right-back role.

Barcelona aren’t looking to offload Vidal, as they look to use him as the replacement for Brazilian Dani Alves, who is set to leave for Juventus. And unless the Reds are prepared to pay £45 million to activate Vidal’s release clause, then the right-back will not be heading for England.

Vidal was signed from Sevilla for £13 million last year, having shone for his former club, but Alves has prevented him from establishing himself in the Catalan’s side.
