Sweden boss gives striker permission to leave training camp

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be allowed to leave Sweden’s Euro 2016 training camp in order to complete his move to Manchester United according to boss Erik Hamren.

It had seemed likely that the move would be held off until after Ibrahimovic returned from France, following Sweden’s Euro 2016 campaign, however, it could now be completed before the tournament’s opening fixture on Friday.

The former Barcelona striker has reportedly agreed terms with United, while his agent, Mino Raiola, is currently away in Monte Carlo, meaning the deal cannot be finalised until his return.

“We have days off. We plan our activities and the players can act based on that,” said Hamren. “I’m not going to speculate about such things.”

The short trip across the channel should mean that Ibrahimovic can finalise his move to Old Trafford before Sweden embark on their Euro 2016 campaign. And with the 34-year-old’s side of the deal all but complete, the chances of the deal being done in the coming days looks likely.

Ibrahimovic missed Tuesday’s goalless draw with Slovenia, due to a sore calf, but will start in Stockholm on Sunday, when they face Wales in their final warm-up fixture.

Sweden begin their European campaign on June 13, giving Manchester United plenty of time to get a deal over the line for the player whose left Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season.
