The defender is attracting interest from across Europe

Manchester United have made a £30 million bid to sign Villarreal defender Eric Bailly in hope fending off the interest of Manchester City, Arsenal and Bayern Munich.

The highly-rated Ivory Coast defender has been monitored by some of Europe’s biggest clubs in recent seasons, but United have pressed ahead with an offer to the Spanish outfit, which will see an initial fee of £18 million rise, with £12 million in bonuses.

Premier League champions Leicester City and Barcelona are also thought to have been watching the Ivorian since the beginning of the year, but Jose Mourinho is keen to strengthen his defence, by acquiring the player Villarreal signed from Espanyol for £4 million in 2014.

Villarreal, who signed Bailly as a replacement for Gabriel Paulista, who left for Arsenal in 2015, are confident that the deal will go throw which will see the 22-year-old head to United.

Bailly had a poor start at the Spanish outfit, but has gone on to impress in La Liga, becoming one of the top defenders in Spain. Still considered a bit raw; Mourinho will still have some work to do to get the best very best out the talented youngster.

The Ivory Coast international is confident in bringing the ball of out defence, is quick, strong and can read the game well. Bailly will be one of a number of signings at Old Trafford this summer, with Mourinho expected to bring in four or five new signings.
