Spurs and United are set to battle it out with Barcelona for the Algeria international

Tottenham and Manchester United have joined the race to sign Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez, with Barcelona also interested.

Mahrez, who joined the Foxes from Le Havre in January 2014 for £400,000, is now subject of interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, after helping Leicester to the top of the Premier League.

The Algeria international is valued at £25 million, and the Foxes are expecting to lose either Mahrez or N’Golo Kante this summer, after a fantastic season which has put them seven points clear in the league, with six games remaining.

Tottenham are currently chasing Leicester in second, while United are in the hunt for a Champions League place. But Mahrez could be tempted to Spain with the reigning La Liga and Champions League holders.

Assist king

Mahrez has created more assists than any other player for Leicester, in the Premier League, this season, with 11 – joint second overall – on top of his 16 goals.

The 25-year-old is quickly becoming one of the Premier League’s hottest properties, but Leicester will hope to keep ahold of the winger, who has been capped 24 times by Algeria, with Champions League football all-but certain next campaign.
